At a. beef «ating tournament held at New York Obarlw Obratn defeated Patrick Divver, the former champion, by devouring 71b of steak at a short sitting. Divver was not in good condition. At the former contest he consumed 141b. At the prewnt time the American gormnadising championships in other ediblee are held by the following : —Oyster*: Frederick Mackay, of Kansas City, who devoured 100 in nina minutt?. l'w>: S;anuel Jackson fiuffern, of New Jersey, who ate fourteen mince pies in nineteen minutes. Apples: Charles Haning Woe*.wood, of New Jersey, who consumed a banei of appke in one w«ck. Apricot*: Z. Fink, of New York, who ate ninety in seven minutes. Epgs: Franz Frederick, of Williairisburg, who ate fifty in on-* hour.
