AQUATICS.
To-night, at 5.15 o'clock, the Canterbury Rowing Club's Youths' Four and Maiden Four, that have been picked to take part at, the Christchurch regatta next Thursday, will row uff to decide which crew shall compete in the Maiden Fours at Wanganui on the 19th inst. To-morrow evening a public meeting, convened by Mr J. Grubb, Mayor of Lytte'.ton, if to be held at the local Borough. Council Chambers, to consider the question of holding a tegatta whilst the warships are in the port. The half-ycaily m-jc-ting of tho Akaroa Boating Club was held at the boatliouse on Tuesday evening, the Captain (Mr F. S. Michel;) in the chair. There, was a good att'?TKi!ncf\ The report and balance-sheet wrra read, showing receipt** £85 10s 7d, and expenditure £60 17s. There was row a membership of 80, being a record. The Club had baen rvprcecnttd at Akaroa and Lyttelton Regattas, scoring two first and seven second*, this being considered satisfactory in view of the untried crews competing- Tlw four oar boat ordered from Norton had been cancelled owing to nondelivery, the Committee intending to purchase a single sculling practice boat. The report and balance-eheet were adopted. Mr Marker (president), en behalf of Mjs Barker, presented the Club with two hand-some trophies to lie competed for by youths rowing at regattas. A lueaiiy vote of thanks was to the donor.
