DOWIE MAKING MONEY.
According t« a telegram from New York on December 14th, to a London paper, John Alexander Dowie, the Chicago yeli-styled prophet, lias invented a machine, with clockwork attachment, to register intercessions on behalf of those who are sick. Th? patients receive a printed slip, "Prayed foi, December Ist, 4 p.m." In the case of any ot' his followers at a distance falling ill. Dowie prays over the telephone. He also speaks, into the phonograph, and , undertakes to forward cylinders inscribed with prayeie to his adheients in any part of the world at a fixed charge.
