Growers have beer, asking 4s at country stations for new wheat, without meeting acceptance, as exporters are yet doubtful as to what prices will rule in Australia later on when the large shipments from America arrive. Jncludiiig freight, duty and other incidental charges, it will cost a little over Is 6cl pt>r bushel to ship to Australia.
The offerings of new oats largely increased during the week, aiid several line?. LaT6 changed hands at Is 10d for Danish. Is lid for Duns, and 2s for short ised, at country stations for delivery within the next month. A Melbourne buyer is in Chrietchurch at present, and it is leporteJ that he has already purchased a cousidc-r----able quantity of short feed. The oats that have come forward so far are of fair quality, but being early matured they are not as plump as the latex crop will probably
Several samples of barley continue to be offered without finding buyers at the price asked. Growers are wanting 3s 6d, white the best offers range from 5s to 3s 3d. There is likely to be a good supply of barley this season if suitable weuther pievails for harvesting.
The broken weather early in the wesk checked the offerings of grass seed, but in a short time a eousitkrable quantity is likely to be placed on the market. For well .bearded Italian ryegrass 3s to 3e 3d ii being offered. Xo cocksfoot has yet come diorwiud, the work of harvesting having been delayed by broken weather. Mail advices from: London etate that there is not much enquiry for cocksfoot, but it is firm, and prices are without 'change.
The following are the current prices paid to farmers, free of commission, except where otherwiee specified: — Wheat (nominal) —Hunter's, Tuscan and Pearl, 5s to 5s 3d, at country stations. Oats (new)— Short feed 2s, Duns Is lid, and Danish Is 10d, at country stations, for February delivery. Barley (nominal). Hour (millers' quotations)— Roller, £12 per ton. Pollard—£6 10s. Bran—£6. Oatineil—£l4 10e. ,& Ryegmes—Weli dressed farmers' parcels, 2a to 2a 3d, Italian ryegrass 3i to 3s 3d, delivered. Dairy Produce—Cheese, factory, 5d to 6d, dairy 6d; butter, factory, local 10£ di North lalandi, lid, f.0.b., Wellington; farmers separator, 9d; dairy, 8d to 9d for .prime; ealt (in boxes), 7d to 8d; haxns and bacon, 9d to 10d; factory hams and bacon, id higher, f.o.b.
