WELLINGTON, January 30. llhe Trades Council lias obtained a promise from, the Town and Coimtry Co-o>pera-tm» Supply Federation tirat tlie Federation will start a co-operative bakery, to compete'with the local bakerke which recently raised the price of bread. The Council Trill guarantee the demand of 600 loaves dafly for twelve months at 3Jd cash on delivery, the price to be reduced if the price of floor goes <Jowd. The Council 'has dfeoided to represent the matter to tibe various Unions, and ask them to ascertain how many members are willing to deal with tlhe Federation on the conditions stated, with tne poeitive stipulation that only Union labour is to be employed in .Jβ bakery. At a meeting of the New Zealand Flour Millers' Aseociatkm, field at Timaru last night, it was decided to re-establish the price of flour at Dimedin at £13 a ton. The "Star" adds ttytt when the Association a few day* ago reduced the price from £13 to £12, the Dunedin millers protested and defined to etdl und«r £13, as owing to the high price of wheat, there was barely a profit even at tlie k«er figure.
