YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

To commemorate the opening of the new rooms in Gloucester street, a gonial was held by the Young Wonwn's Christian Association last night. Nearly two hundred people att#nded. The Bey. J. McKenrie, president of the Young Men's Christian Association, irho occupied, the chair, expressed h-> regret that the reason of his doing co should lie the illness of Mia A. Kaye, president of the companion society. On behalf of the Young Men'e Association, he congratulated that of the young women on their present commodious and, in all ways convenient premises. The object of the Association, he etated, was first of all direct religious work /among young women, with a view to the building up of character. The work was at present carried on by means of meetings, and there was a, Bible class on Sundays. The Association aluo aimed at supplying a suitable home for girls from the country, or from other towns, who had no regular home of their own, and at creating a sociable and friendly atmosphere for them. Its inauguration had answered tho old complaint that much was done fur young men in Christ church, but nothing, for young women. Tea could fee obtained at the rooms at a very low rate, sn<J he would emphasise the fact that a hearty and sincere invitation was iheld out U» girls to make the place their own. Miss Mamoramabai and Mfee Abrams, of the Mukti Mission, gave interesting addresses on mission work in India. A musical programme was gone through, and refreshments were handed round during the evening.

The missionary meeting to be held at the Choral Hall to-night, at which Miss Manorainabai and Miss Abrains ore to speak, will be open to all, and nert, as previously stated, to women onily.
