SHOOTING TRAGEDIES IN AUSTBALIA.
TWO CASES REPORTED,

A tragedy occurred at Darijnghuret this morning, when Charles Humphreys shot His wife, inflicting serious grounds on the cheek and neck, and then blew out his own brains. He had been drinking heavily. The woman will probably re* cover. (Received January 29th, 9.46 p.m. SYDNEY, January 29. The Humphreys led an unhappy life, owing to the drunken habits of the hueband and his ill-usage of his wife. Last right, when under the influence of diink, Humphreys threatened to shoot his wife She fled to neighbours, but returned in the morning, when the quarrel was resumed on the verandah. Suddenly Humphreys fired two shots at hie wife, both taking effect, and "then committed euicide. Humphreye, who was an- ex-Guardsman, lived for some time .in New Zealand. (Received January 30th, 1.6 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 29. A tragedy is reported from Dubbo. A man named Walker, becoming infatuated with a married woman, aeked her to live with him. She refused, whereupon he threatened to »hoot her. As she lefb the house to inform the police, Walker fired at her, but missed. When she returned she found Walker had shot himeelf dead in the street.
