For th.. defence evidence was given thai Hill was the aggressor and originator of the trouble, that Wright had been assaulted by members of the opposite faction armed with a pokor, a fire rake, and an umbrella, the Bench deferred, decision till after the luncheon adjournment. On resuming, they acquitted the defendant upon the aseault and etore-throwiag charges, and fined him 20s and costs upon the charge of using obscene language. A CANINE ASSAULT. Captain feandford was cycling along the Canal Reserve on December 21st, accompanied by hie dog, & small fox terrier, when lie encountered two you-hg men, ■ who were in charge of three dogs, one of which, 'so it wae alleged, they set on to Mr (Sandford's terrier.
