A letter from the Cant?rbury Cricket Association was read at the meeting of tho Education Board yesterday requesting that a, half-holiday be proclaimed in the schools on February 6th, the first day of the match between Lord Hawkc's team and Canterbury. It was discovered, however, that the letter was intended for thr Chairman of the. Normal School Committee, to whom .it was referred, the Chairman of the Board remarking that, it was not a. matter for the different School Committees to deal with.
In compliiince with the request of the Canterbury Cricket Association the Lancaster Park Company have decided not to issue any free passes in connection with the England v. Canterbury match. Workmen have placed barbed wire on tbe top of the fence to prevent persons gaining admission to the Park by that means.
At Wanganui the tickets cold and the money taken at the. gates during the three days' cricket match with mo English representatives totalled about £150—£50 short of the amount guaranteed.
