Lady Ranfurly arrived in Dunedin on Monday night.
Mr G. (i. Stead iretnrned from Wellington by the Ruapehu yesterday morning. The Mayor of Dunedin (Mr J. A. Park), Captain Lambert, Mr I\. Tapper, Mr W. G. Douglass, Mr H. R. Carter, Mr Kronfield, Mr H. G. Harvey, and Mr R. H. Brown were passengers from the South by the express last evening. Major-General Babington, Commandant of the New Zealand Forces, and Captain Campbell, his aide de camp, 'Mr J. U. Collins, Jir A. Cohen (of the Dunedin "Star"), Mr and Mrs Timson, Mr R. Ukndianing, Mr R. Buff, and Mr H. Wright went South by the express yesterday. Tlie Right. Rev. Bishop Grimes and Fatter Price, of Hawarden, are visiting Haiuner to arrange about the erection of a Roman Catbolio Church in that, township. Mr v*. Faulbaum, Mr T. J. W. Bell, Mr A. Lyons, and Mr T. Humphries, Com-mwauoue-r of Crown Lands, left for Weilißgton by last night's steamer. Visitors" to town include:—Mr G. E. Kniebusch (Sydney), jut Bertram C. Bansome Mr and Mrs Prank Perry, Mr H. D. Levinehon, Mr Ballinger, and Mr and Mr* Sanders. Mr W. Minson lias been re-elected as President of tiie Industrial Association. Mr F. Graham has been nominated as a member of the Lyttelton Harbour. Board for the city of Christchurch. Mr Crrns WilUame, tie newly-appoitsted engineer of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, has arrived and entered upoa bis duties. Mr T. H. According to a Gisborn© telegram, Mr John Kinder, 8.A., a graduate of the Otago University. and mathematics and Kcience master of the Napier High School, bas o*en appointed assistant master of the. Gisoorne District High School. Mr and Mrs Roach (Lyttelton), Mr Morris, Mr Moore (St. Albans), Mr and Mrs Bathgen, Mr Wisker, -Mr and Mrs Bell (Wellington), Mr and Mrs A. Grimwood (Rattgiora), and Mr F. J. Norton (Pleasant Point), are visitors to Hanmer.
At a meeting of the Timaru Borough Council, held on Monday night, mention was made by the Mayor of the excellent services which Sergeant Crawford had rendered the town and district, prior to Ids removal to Christchuich, and the following resolution was unanimously passed: — "That, this Council regrets the removal of Sergeant Crawford from Timaru, but as his removal is promotion, we. record our appreciation of his many, variou.s, and valuable services rendered to this borough and district. -.
