WEST COAST NOTES.
(SPECIAL TO "THE I'KESS.") January 2G. Thi thirteen dredges which have reported retum 9 for the past week give an average of 390z iidwt, per dredge. The Greenstone Creek Company's dredge haa not got the screen in position, and will not get a start till next week. The Mosquito Company have declared a ls dividend. Arrangements for the erection of the Ross Day Dawn Company's dredge are now completed, and the work will be started forthwith. The No Town No. 2 Company hag made a start to build its dredge, and work will be vigorously prosecuted. The Blackwuter River Company, which was floated over two and a half years ago, is now nearly ready to commence operations. The Hau Hau Creek Company is in course of liquidation. The dredge was sold the other day, and has been leased by a. party of workmen, who intend to start work again. It ia understood that 56 acres of freehold at Canoe Creek have been purchased at £10 per acre, and the dredge is to be put on forthwith.
