The Welcome Company's dredge had the paddock cleaned out last Thursday, and shouid give a full week's return this week. The master of the Greenstone Creek Company's dredge, in a report received on Saturday, states that tie bridge over the Teremakau is not likely to be open for traffic ifor aome kittle time, and it will probably be neceesary to curt the new portion of the screen via Marsden.
The manager of the "Waiwhero Sinking and Dredging Company reports that he expects to have the water on, and to commence operations on the flat this week. Work lias boen delayed logger t"b>an was expected owing to the bad weather experienced on fhe coast during the past two months. The new shaft lias been fixed on the Reeves's Proprietary Company's dredge, and operations were resumed at 7 o'clock on Friday evening. A "Wellington telegram states that the return from the Kohikoni Sluicing ' Company (top box) was lOoz 18dwt.
The annual report of the directors of the Montgomery's Terrace Hydraulic Sluicing Company, to be presented at the annual meeting of shareholders on Friday, states that the water race is approaching completion, and that it is confidently expected, provided reasonable weather is experienced, that operations will be commenced by the er.d of February or the beginning of March. The necessary additional capital was iver subscribed, and the directors nave made satisfactory nrrangemtr.ls with the bank for the cdvanca in current acccunt. at a low rate oi interest, of the moneys lequired to complete existing contracts, and start operations. Keports from the engineer (Mr J. D. Gillies) and the mine njun&g«r (Mr J. Hay) accompany the directors' report.
