POLICE COURT.

— -. At the Police Court yesterday the following cases were dealt with by Mr J. Connal, J.P., and Mr W. Haywani, J.P. DRUNKENNESS. Isabella Leckie,- with three previous convictions during the past six months, and fomuflwrabte prior ooatiotAang, was wntented to three months' imprisonment, wi'tih hard laibour. Mary Ann Webb, who had one previous conviction against her, was fined ss, and costs, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Antonio Fernandez was cautioned and fined Se and costs. Three male first offenders were each fined ss, with the alternative of fortyeight hours' imprisonment.. IMPORTUNING. Margaret /Jriffin pleaded "Guilty" to an offence of this nature, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour. ALLEGED ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. On the application of Sergeant Burke, the hearing of v charge against George Waterman for attempting suicide in the Cathedral square. wa.fcer tank, at an eariv hour on Sunday morning, was remanded J until February 3rd. THEFT OF FRUIT. Two youths about 18 years of age, pleaded "Guilty" to having abstracted some apples, value ls, from Mr Hoddiuott's garden at Woolston. Mr Hoddinott did not want to press tlie charge, as the boys were the sons of decent parents- Tlie Bench cautioned and discharged the accused. ALLEGED BICYCLE STEALING. Henry Bryant King, for whom Mr Don-n-ellv appeared, was dharged with having at Cforistchiiich, on January Ist, stolen a bicycle value £17, th® property of Mr T. W. Adams. Mr Donnelly said there were two other charges against the accused, and applied for a remand, to that the hearing might take place before a Magistrate. The Bench granted the remand, fixing the hearing for the following day. CATTLE AT LARGE. A. W. Johnson, charged with allowing eight of his horses to be at Hange on the Tai Tapu road, on January 15th, was fined £1 and costs. Solicitor's costs wers also allowed.
