MEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of Oant«rburv Cul.ejce was Ik-M y*terday. Present—Mr Aithur E. <J. Rhodes (chairman), Bishop Juiiup, Dean Harper, Rev. Dr. Enrin. Messrs C. C Carte, T. W. Adams, G. W. Russell, C H. A. T. Opie, J. G. L. Scott, C. Lewis, M.H.R-. C. Rai«d. J. L. Scoit, T. S. Foster, T. Hughes, and H. J. Be.wk-k- Apologias were received from Bishop Grin we and Hon. TV. Montgomery. The accounts for last, year were referred to the- various Committees.

Mr T. S. Weston wrote, resigning his position as a rrioinber of the Board. On the motion of Bishop Julius Mr Western's resignation was aceept«l with regret. The following cable ineseago irom Dr. D >ndy, professor of biology, was read :—-

"Good appointment. Wish* to resign. Ask Izard. Cable." Mr Izurd wrote forwarding copy of caße message received from Dr. Dt-ndy, and also an extract from a letter received from him. He wished to know if the Board would comply with Dr. Dfcixly .s desire. The extract from Dr. Dendy's letter was to the eifwt that if he cabled that he was remaining at Home he wished Mr Izard to make tht best arrangements possible regarding his resignation. His leave expired on March Ist, 1903. but he had exp aine-d to Mr Weston that lie would probably not return. Legally he knew the Board wai entitled to twe;ve months' notice, and he had undertaken to give the Chairman <i.s much notice as possible. lit- wished h:s resignation to take t-ii'ect from Maicli Ist. The Board discussed the mat tor in committee. On resuming, it was reported that the mutter had been referred to the College Committee with power to actA request from the West port Athena-inn for the loan or gift of books until such tmio ;w orders could be filled to replace the bioks destroyed by fire, was referred to the Library Committee.
