CRICKET MATTERS.
XO THK EDITOR OF TUB PBESS. g;r t —it i« a mistake for some of our men to slog so much. They might try and keep the bowling down, and play v, safe and patiect game. Another fault is that they go out of their ground too much, and if they <io this in the big match next week the half of the team will be stumped. Why not lake the nets away, and gave each one'his pkoe in <ihe field, and each bowler and batsman -twenty minutes? This would improve fielding, catching, and the return to the wickets." Iβ next week's contest a, d.id will depend upon how the men are placed in the field. In Clip cricket the team is generally placed in a circle (except those in the sips). It is impossible for rcen to cover up when so placed, and runs are made. The best-managed team in Cup cricket is the U.C.1 , ., and little fault can be found with the fielding of the team generally. Given fine leather for the match next week, a good attendance, and our best team in the field, Lord Hawke's team will have all they can do to come out on toD —I am, etc., P STUMPS.
