AMUSEMENTS.
DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY,
Owing to the indisposition of two members of the Company, the pantomime "Dick Whittington ocd hia Cat," which was to have been repeated at the Opera House yesterday evening, was not _uaytd, but a good variety programme was substituted in its place. The house was filled almost to the doors, and the large audience appeared to be iquite satisfied with the programme presented. Some catchy songs and pretty dances by the Smith Sisters and the Galardi Sisters received special marks of appreciation, while Miss Jennie Johnston and Mr Ernest Fitts were each encored for their songs. The other turns were also well received. A statue bailet arranged by Miss Ethel Clifford concluded the first- part, and an amusing farce terminated the programme. "Dick Whittington and his Cat" will be played at a matinee performance this afternoon, and again to-night. It was anmmnced that the children present yesterday evening would be allowed to attend the pantomime this afternoon free of charge.
