The Bank iretunie for the year show that the advances were:—BankolNew Zealand, £4,385,785; Union Bank, £1,484,510; Bank of New South Wales, £2,557,104; Bank of Australasia, £2,409,324; National Bank, £2,107,287. The deposits were: — Bank of New Zealand, £7,538,410; Unkm jL.ank r £7,567,018; Bank of New south Waks, £2,555248; Baric of Australasia, £1,426,198; National Bank, The aggregate holdings of coia and bullion by the banks wee £3,292,090, as against £3,065,843 at tbe end of the previous year. At die e&d of last December the total liabilities of the backs were £19,018,533, and the asset* £19,162,178. At the end of the previous year the figures were:—Liabilities £17,283,645- bwete £18,821,773.
