WEST AUSTRALIA'S NEW GOVERNOR.
THE AGENT-GENERAL'S VIEWS. United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 22nd, 10.35 p.m.) LONDON, January 22Speaking ait the Gtfloniail Club, Mr Lef roy, Agent-General for West, Australia, said it was particularly appropriate that a distinguished sailor should represent the King as Governor vt West Australia. The Governors were the only visible link of the lirates , connection with the Motherland. He trusted that this connection would never oeaee to exist, and that the Governors would always be directly appointed by the Imperial Government. Admiral Bedford, in reply, said he had accepted the reepensibfftty of Governorship with misgivings, which were much lessened by the cordial message from West Australia. There was no hagiber reward for officers than a governorship, and he would do his best to show his Sovereign that his confidence wae not xnieplaced.
