SOUTH AFRICA'S NEED

ADVICE FROM MR CHAMBERLAIN

(Received January 20th, 4.36 p.m.)

CAPETOWN, January 19.

Mr Chamberlain, at the Johannesburg banquet, said in order to nuke South Africa a white man's country, more brain and less muscle was required. With the view of averting future danger they must teach the natives the dignity of labour and the necessity of working continuous!?, and not spasmodically. He urged South Africa to establish a University superior to anything in the world. The question of the importation of Asiatics was absolutely in the hands of the South African people. The Imperial Government would not interfere, though the great colonies and the Motherland regarded such importation as a retrograde step.
