HARBOUR BOARD.

The Lyttelton Harbour Board met yesterday, the attendance consisting of Messrs A. Kaye fOhairman), G. Lambie, F. Graham, J. ConnsJ, F. Waymouth, J. Gibbs, T. HcClatchie, aad W. Duniop. An apology for absence wa* received from Mr R. Pitcaithly. The annual meet, ing, which was also to have been held yesterday, woe adjourned, on the Chairman's motion, until Feßfuary 6tn, to enable the audit of the annual account* to be completed, and the accounts to be returned from Wellington. .

The Finance Committee, in its report, recommended the Board to approve of the following investment* of their available Sinking Fund.-—-£I6OO in Sydenham Borough, 4 per cent, debentures, at par; £1900 in St. Albans Borough 4 per' cent, debentures, at par. Having considered the list of irrecoverable storage account*. (consequent on bankruptcies and other caiiees) prepared by the treasurer, dating from December, 1886, to December, 1902, •mounting in all to £98 15s 10d, .the Committee recommended that such amoant be written off the Board's books, in conformity with the Audit Inspector's report of November 29th, 1902. The report wae adopted. The N.Z. Shipping Company's tender, the only one received, for the lease of section 11 of the reclaimed land west of No. 7 jetty at Lyttelton, at an annual rental of £160, the upset price, wm accepted. The co-operation of the Board was given to the Selwyn County Council in their attempt to eecure aa amendment to the regulations made by the Government in Council regarding election by County Councils of members of the Harbour Board. Mr Gibbs moved, and Mr Lembis seconded, "That the Board tike steps to, take poseeaeion of the laud reclaimed by the Government to the eastward of Offiosie , Point."
