The Premier has sent a etrong minute to the Lieutenant-Governor, resenting his remarks at the laying of the foundation stone of the Savings Bank, .in which he delivered a warning to depositors against any Government control of the bank. It has been for some time a debatable matter whether the Government should or should not assume control. The Premier thinks the Lieutenant-Gover-nor mada a mistake in volunteering a personal opinion, but; the Governor explained that he spoke as a depositor, and not as the Governor.
