CHINESE IMMIGRATION.
(Received Januai-y 18bh, 5 p.m.) LONDON, January 17. The "Spectator" suggests that no Chinese should be imported during the British trusteescnip of the Transvaal. The decision in tie matter had better be left to an autonomous Government. (Received January 19th, 1-35 a.m.) LOiroON, January 18. Mr Copeland, interviewed by t2i© "Daily Chroniole," said one European miner was worth five Cliiinase. The action of the Rand capitalists %va« contemptible. English and Australian workmen had helped to save the mines, and it was now proposed to hand their legitimate employment over to a horde of barbariane. If Mr Chamberlain conaenbed to tho importation of Chinese, it would far out-weigh, all the gocd he had ever .done,, and would embitter the whole of Australia and Oanoda., and make them the avowed enemies of hiimself and the Imperial poicy.
