The Premier arrived in CSiristoaurch at about 12.30 o'clock this morning by epeciai conveyance from the West Coast, and s staying with the Rev. W. S. Bean. It is understood that the visit is purely a private one. The Mem. W. HaH-Joces, Minister for Public Worfca, together with the Misees Hail-Jones, returned from Sanmer on Saturday. Mr Hall-Jones kft by steamer for Wellington. Sir Wil'ikua J. Steward, M.H.R., and party kft Hanmer on Saturday for Amberley. To-day they arrive" in Curistchuroh, where they will probably epend •two or three days." Mr R. VV. Holmes, inspecting engineer to the Public Works Department, who accompanied the Minister of Public Works to the Wainuikariri Gorge and to Hanmar, will remain in Caristchurch for a day or two before going North. Th« iion. J. McGowan, Minister of Mines, hopes to visit the State Coal Mints At Greymotitih and Westport shortly. Among the passengers who left by the express on (Saturday were Messrs J. R. The friends of Mr W. P. Cowlishaw will be pkased to learn that lie was able to be out on Friday for a brief period.
