NORTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT.
(FSISS ASSOCIATION TSLKVKAX.) PALMERSTON NORTH, January 18. The bowling tournament terminated today with the playing off of the last round* , : .n "tbe Huddart, Parker trophy competition. ■ here were sixteen competing 'teams, Newtown, the present holders, and Palmereton No. 2, winners of the being left in the final. After a keen game Newtown gained a deserved victory by a bare single, the score being 25—24-. At one etage of the game Palmenttm wa* leading by thirteen. •A scratch match wae played daring the day by a team of visiting pressmen and some "members of tbe local club. The pressmen won a finely-played game by A 2—22.
The visiting bowlers epeak in the highest terms of admiration of the hospitality extended by the Palmerston Club and* members. The tournament is regarded aa the most successful ever promoted by the North Island Bowling Association.
