FRUIT.
The supplies of stone fruits, especially plums, have been rather short, but are getting a little more plentiful. Small fruits, such as gooseberries and black and red currants, are an good supply, but raspberries are scarce, and the strawberry season is coining to an end. Bananas have been plentiful, and the Moura will bring a consignment from liji on Monday. The wholesale quotations are:,—Appies (local Irish Peach), 2d per lb; peaches, local, 4d to per lb, Hawke's Bay, 6s per 20ib box; cherries, up to lid ; strawberries, 6d to 8d; raspberries, 4|d to per lb; grapes, Is 4d per lb; gooseberries, Id to per ib; black currants, to 3d per lb, red currants, 2d to 3d per lb ; Nelson cherry plums, 6s to 7s per quarter box; Auckland plums, 4s 3d per 121b box ; Tongan bananas, 6s to> 8s per case; Italian oranges, 20s to 23s per case, 10s to 12s per half case; Italian lemons (300's), 26s per case, 12s 6d per half case; pines, 5s per small case.
