The Wanaka crrived from Newcastle during Wednesday night, and anchored in the stream till yesterday afternoon, when she was berthed at No. 3 wharf. The Riruu arrived from Timaru at 7.45 a.m. yesterday, and left for' Wanganui at 4 p.m. The Moeraki, from Melbourne, via Hobart, arrived at 6.50 a.m. yesterday, and left for Sydney via Wellington at 6.30 p.m. Tha Rotomahana arrived from Wellington at 8.40 a.m. yesterday, and left for Wellington at 9.30 p.m. The Sussex leave s Wellington for South Africa, via Sydney and Fremantle, next Wednesday. 'I he Tyscr Company's steamer Star of New Zealand haa been delayed in Auckland, and will therefore not reach Wellington until Sunday.
Great dissatisfaction (says the Wellington "Post") is being expressed at Whangarei with regard to tho steamer service between that place and Auckland, and steps are being taken to form a. company which is to purchase a. .learner and run in opposition to the Northern Company. The final port of departure for the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruapehu has been altered from Lyttelton to Wellington. The vessel will get away on the sth February.
Mr A. Wickes, of the engineering staff of the Union Company's steamer Penguin, vas presented with a tok.r. of esteem by his comrades" on Tuesday afternoon, on the occasion of his approaching marriage. The Papanui left for Wellington at 5:13 p.m. yesterday. The Cygnet left for Kaikoura at 8 p.m. The tug went on the slip yesterday.
