THE SHERLOCK HOLMES SEASON.
The repetition last night of "Sherlock Holmes" at the Theatre Royal drew a crowded house. The piece went splendidly from first to last, the dramatic situation at the end of the third act eliciting enthusiastic applause. To-jjjMjbt and tomorrow evening will be the last two representations of " Sherlock Holmes." On Monday night Mt Williamson will introduce to Christchurch playgoers Mr Justin McCarthy's romantic play, "If I .were King." This will afford Mr Hastings an opportunity to display his versatility, the character of Francois Villon, the swash buckler, being the complete antithesis of Sherlock Holmes. The pieoe ds also said to ba very strongly cast beyond Mr Hastings himself. The plan of reserved seats for the/new production will open at Messrs Milner and Thompson's to-day.
