MEETING OF UMPIRES.

A meeting of umpires, in connection with the Canterbury Grioket Association, was held in the Sydenham Football Club's rooms last evening. Present—Messrs J. B. Brunsden, F. C. Gerard, A. Hart, J. S Jones, and F. Wooles. An apology for absence was received from Mr Minifie. Mr F. U. Gerard was appointed chairman, and explained the object of tbe meeting by reading a letter received by him from the committee of the Cricket Association. The yules of the Palmerston North Umpires' Association were also read by the Chairman. After a short discussion, it was resolved—'"That, in the opinion of this meeting of umpires, it is desirable to form an Umpires' Association in connection with the Canterbury Cricket Association." It was also re.-olved—"That an adjourned ineetinig oe held for this purpose on TUursdav evening next, at the same p_ate and time. Mr Gerard was requested to act as interim secretary, and was also directed to write to the secretary of the Cricket Association, asking for oopies of the Maryi«foone Club rulings, for the use of umpires. A vote of [hanks was passed to the Sydenham Football Club for the use of their room, and the meeting adjourned.

The match Poet and Telegraph v Papanui was won by the former by an innings and 45 runs. The Post and Telegraph team in their first minings scored 236 (Treweek 52, King 40, Francis 38, Russell 31, Percy 26, Hall 21 not out, P. Mansell and Wood 10 each). Papanui 99 and 90 (G. Homer 24, Frank Homer 22, J. Homer 21, Jenkins 16, Hayes 15, Pritchard 13, Smith 12, and Day 10). Ford and King for the Post and Telegraph and Pritolmrd and Prebble for Papanui were the most successful bowlerß. The Junior Cup match between the Lancaster Park and Sydenham teams will be commenced at Sydenham Park to-morrow, and nob cm the Co.lege Ground as stated in yesterday's issue.
