CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.

At Tuesday's meeting of the Board of Governors of the Canterbury Agricultural College, at which the Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, and Messrs M. Murphy, E. Richardson, H. A. Knight, W. P. M. Buckley, and D. McMillan were present, the appointment of a resident veterinary surgeon was further considered. It was decided to offer the position to Mr W. J. Colebatch, M.8.C.V.5., of Edinburgh University. Mr Colebatch obtained the diploma of the Bojal College of Veterinary Surgeons last year, and is now going to sit for (the final of his B.Sc. in agriculture. Hie testimonials are of- a very high character, and include one from Dr. Tayl->r Grant, of the Edinburgh College of Agriculture, speaking in flattering terms of Mr Colebatoh's bacteriological attainments, and expressing the opinion that the College is fortunate "which secures the services of such an able and well trained veterinary surgeon as Mx Colebatch." Dr. Aitkein also expresses bis high opinion of Mr Colebatch

The Director placed 'before the Board the results of the Diploma Examinations. It was resolved thai the Diploma of the College be granted to five students, viz., J, Ransfcead and W. L. Ranstead (of Waikato), A. R. Winstone (Auckland), J. W. Roper (England), and A. A. Mays (Auckland).

Scholarships for the second-year students were won by J. Ranstead and W. L. Ranetead, and for the first-year students by E. S. Cooper (Auckland) and A. C. Eckford (Blenheim).

Relative to the retirement of Mr J. Rennie from the membership of the Board, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Knight, seconded by Mr Buckley, that the Board desires to place on record its sense of the valuable services rendered by Mr Resnie as one of its members for a long
