Richardson has been appointed by the Government ac a member of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board, in succession to Mr J. Rennie. Mr .Hyde, Government Inspector of Boarding-out Homes and Industrial Suboote. is at present on a visit to Christchurch. Professor Kernot, of Melbourne University, and President of the Victorian V.'M.C.A., is sightseeing in. the colony. He come* South by way of Nelson. Mr ohread, Mr Broadway, and Mrs Shand, of Christcnurch, were passengers for Hanmer by yesterday morning's train. Mr S. Solomon, Mr H. J. Williams, Mr W. Orowe, and Mr W. Rose Lane, went South by the express yesterday morning. Mr D. CTDonoghue (Auckland), Mr A. Bruce, Mr and Mrs Montgomery, Mr and Mrs Berry, Mrs Wilioox, and Sir James Gray, are visitors to this city. Recent callers at the local agency of the Tourist Department were; —Mr W. Knapman (Port.Adelaide, South Australia), Mr l>. Wiggins (Wellington), and Mr H. ¥. Christie (Sydney). Mr F- T. Sandford, clerk in the locaa office of the Lands and Survey Department, is at present temporarily assisting Dr. Farr at the Magnetic Observatory. Mr W. B. Common (Gi»borne) is at present on a visit to Christchurch. Mr George Petrie arrived yesterday on a visit. Mr Eugen Sandow and Mre Sandow were passengers to Wellington by the Taruwera last night. Among the visitors who arrived in town last night were Mr Etienne C. Lelievre (Akaroa), Mr J. P. Peter (Mount Somers), Mr T. C. Robinson (Uteriot), Mr R. Blunden (Bennett's Junction), and Mr and AJJ» G Perie (Dunedin).
The members of the Avon Rowing Club have presented Mr G. Scott, captain, with a handsome marWe clock on the occasion of hie marriage. Mr Scott has been a member of the dub for about twelve years.
