PRECAUTIONS IN NEW ZEALAND,

(FROU A CORRESPONDENT.) WELLINGTON, January 13. At tho instance of Dr. Bakewell, of Auckland, the "Times' yesterday morning quoted a series of resolutions passed by a •conference of th-o State and Provincial Boards of Health of North America, condemning the action of the Board of Health of California in concealing the alleged e\ktence of plague in San Francisco. He a&ked whether the colony had been notified of any such outbreak. Sir Joseph Ward. Minister of Public Health, replied in the negative, but he added that all precautions were taken by the health authorities in New Zealand to prevent the landing of rats from the Trisco mail boats, and against the possible introduction of plague or other diseases into the colony through the medium of cargo or passengers.
