COUNCIL EMPLOYEES IN GREATER CHRISTCHURCH.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE PRESS. Sir, —At the Greater Christchurch Committee meeting, I stated that one of my canvassers for .signatures to the petition demanding a poll i" Sydenham, had informed me that the employees of the Council !had bein warned that if Greater Christohurch canoe about they would lose their work ; that, in consequence of this the men were working against the movement. I am gla.d! to see by his Worship the Mayor of Sydenham's letter that neither he nor any of his Councillors have told the Council, employees that they will lose their work if Greater Christchurch comes about. I may add that directly I was informed of the matter I spoke to the Town Clerk of Uhristchurch. Mr Smith said that he saw no reason why these men should lese their employment, as the work would etill liav« to ba done.—Yours, etc., H. G. ELL.
