MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, dc.

The annual meeting of teachers in connection ■with the St. Alfoans Sunday School was held on Monday evening, the Rev. W. G. Paruonson presiding. It was reported that the number of scholarwcn the roil was 215, average attendance 168; teachers 21, average attendance 20. It was decided to spend a- further sum of £10 in purchasing books for the library. Arrangements for a sale of work, to Dβ held same time in March, were discussed. The election of officers resulted ac follows: —Superintendent, Mr C. K. Salter ; secretary, Mr H. A'Court; treasurer, Mr R. Bowbyes; librarian and prece-ntor, Mr Vtnables. The various assistant officers weie appoint-ed, and a strong Band of Hope committee elected, with, power to add to their number.

The Clarkville Church of England Sunday School held their annual picnic at 'Mr Thoe. Burgess's farm. There was a large attendance of .parents and friends from the surrounding district. During the afternoon a cricket match wag' played between Clarkville and Eyreton, which was ivon by the former. The day's proceedings ended with a dance in the- woolshed.
