NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

A meeting in connection with the Bakers and Pastrycooks' picnic will take place at the Temperance Hall, to-morrow, at 3 p.m. Owing to Tattersall's being used for wool storage there will be no sale on Saturday next. The nest of the series of local wool sales takes place on Friday next ut the Canterbury Hall. To-morrow, in connection with the Sumner Gala, trams will run on the line of the Christchurch Tram Company to ordinary time-table, with the addition of trams' at noon and 3 p.m. from the Square. There will be a number of attractions, including duck-bunt, greawy boom, Darktown Brigade, etc. 'ihe Vv'oolstun Band will play during the day. At night there will be an open-air concert, and a special excursion at 7.15, accompanied by Dairy's Band.

The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Dairymen will be held in the Temperanqe Hall, Gloucester street, to-morrow, at 7.30 p.m. A poll of the St. Albans ratepayers will be taken on Thursday, January 22nd, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., when the proposal will be submitted —"Are you in favour of the Borough of St. Albans amalgamating with the City of Christchurch and Boroughs of Sydenham and Linwood." The polling place-s are St. Albans Borough Council Chamber, and St. Matthew's Schoolroom, Caledonian road.

A supplement is issued with this issue notifying the commencement of a sale by Messrs J. Ballantyne and Co., on Friday next, at 10 a.m.

By notification elsewhere the City Council advise ratepayers that the rates for the present year are now due.

The Elite Band will perform a programme of music at Oxford terrace . East, opposite the Uhristchurch Amateur Rowing Club's boathouse, on Friday evening, when a collection will ha taken xip in aid of the funds for tho new uniforms for the New Zealand Bras.? Band.
