The trawler Napier arrived from Timaru on Sunday evening. She has come to experiment in the neightbourhood of Lytteiton, where fish of excellent quality is known to be abundant. She is owned by Mr F. G. Sullivan, of Dunedin, and Captain Ryffel is in charge. The trawler is fitted with one of Kay'a patent auto trawling nets, -which has ,a spread of 70 feet. The Toroa arrived, from Napier at 7 a.m. yesterday, and left for the Chatham Islands last night. The attention of the Government has been drawn to the necessity for expending th« £500 put on the Estimates last session for removing obstructions and dredging near the Onehunga wharf. On December 21st the Takapuna grounded at No. 4 buoy, opposite the Bluff, and renamed fast half an hour. The Ngapuhi struck the gTound at the same place on September 3rd and sustained some dfi-"-,ige, bending the blades of her propeller. He brought the barque i Sir Harry Smith through Fovea-ux Straits in 1850. The Annie Hill eailed for Wellington and ■ Kaipara at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The Clyde sailed for Greymouth yesterday afternoon. The Wakatu left for Wellington, etc., last , aig-ht. The Papanui ia eixpected from Timaru to- I lay.
