ATHLETICS.
PIONEER AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB. The Pioneer Amateur iiicycle and Athletic Club held the first of a series of eveninn meetings at Lancaster Park last night. The four events on the programme were well filled, and the finishes v«ry good. What slight wind there was blowing was favourable in the eprinta. The racing track was a trifle heavy. The following are the results: — 100 Yards—'First heat: W. Wallace, 6yds, 1; W. Kain, 3yds, 2; A. O. Keating, ecr, 3. H. S. AVi:iiaiH3 4yds, Delaeour syds. H. K. Brittan 6yds, also started. Time, 10 l-sth sec. Second heat: F. W. Wise, 3yds, 1; T. H. Woruran, 4yds. 2; F. H. Salter, lOyda, 3. C. Hampton syda, C. A. Cooper 6yds, G. C. Martin 6yds, also started. Time, 10 l-sth sec. Third heat: C. S. Harper, 6yds, 1; F. S. Harley, 4yds, 2; L. Brightling, 7yds, 3. F. Drake 3yds also started. Time, 10 l-sth sec. Final: F. W. Wise 1, W. Kain 2, T. H. Worgan 3. Wise won with a yaid to spare, Worgan close up third, jijjie 10 1-oth see. Two Miles Bicycle Race— T. H. Oatea, scr, 1; J. Thompson, 150 yds, 2; T. Burt, 150 yds, 3. V. J. Drake 100 yds, C. H. itich 120 yds, ar.d A._H. Ba«K 120 yds a,bt> started. Oates won fairly easily in the sprint home. Time, omin 7 4-sth sec. 120 Yards Hurdle Race—First tea*: B. T. Harper, owti 14yda, 1; F. S. HarLey. 13yds, 2. O. Keating owea 10yds also started. Harper won eaeily. Time, 18 4-Sth eeo. Second neat: C. S. Harper, owes 12yds, 1: H. R Brittaii, ecr, 2. G. C. Martin, owea 6yds, H. R. Williams syds, also started. A good race. Time, 19 4-sth sec. Final: H. T. Harper 1, C. S. Harper 2, F. S. Harley 3. H. R. IMttan also started. A yard between, each of The placed men. Time, 18 2-sth sec. One Mile—W. F. Simpsou, scr, 1; W. J. Allaid, 110 yds, 2; W. C. Flewollyu, lOyde, 3. Also etarted—E. T. Harper 10yds, W. Co'baldick 45ydb. G. Rich 4Oyde, G. C. Martin 60yds, B. Hampton 60yda, T. H. Worgan 75yds, W. Kain 70yds, 1.. Thompson 80yds, G. A. Martin 95yds. P. G. Pratt lOOyds, W. Wallace 110 yds. Wallace led the first time round, being then replaced by AlJard, who led till the straight in the last round. Flewellyn and Simpson, running together, eradnally gained on the fidd, with the exception of Allard, who held a eubrtajitial lead in the J-ait round, when Simpson, -with e> magnificent run home, started to eprint at the 22Oy<ls mark, catching Allard forty yards from the tape, end winning by a. good five yards; Flewellyn, who finished with a good run, about five yards away, third, rime, 4min 41sec.
