Public Health Officer, vrrote drawing attention to defects in the connections made with the main eewsr. It •was decided to refer the letter to the Drainage Board. In accordance with the District Health Officer's certificate, it was decided to have a certain house in the North Avon road removed. Letters from the Templeton branch of the Fanners' Union (re Thursday halfholiday). uw] the Hospital Bowrd (undertaking to lioiLse and look after the infectious diseases van, but not to provide horses), were received. The recommendations of the Works Committee were agreed to as follows : —That power be given the- Committee to obtain an engine for the abattoirs at a cost not exceeding £150. That the surveyor be instructed to proceed with the construction of well, pumping sump for drainage, and iron shed for engine at Sockburn abattoirs. That the Council purchase from the Midland Saleyards Company the section and house at the south-east corner of the abattoirs, at ii cost of £400. The iinding of the Commissioner re the maintenance of the Ferry road (a precis of which has already been published) was jeofived.
