A glance at tliem will show that the wonderful work of the ancient sculptors and builders deserves to rank among the wonders of the world. Accompanying the pictures is a full description ot cne beauties to bs seen in Java, written in a most, interesting style by Mr Donald McKay, a many years' resident of the Island. Ot prominent New Zealand subjects tirst must, be given to the NVw Zealand Lawn Tennis Championship Meeting, held at Nelson, of which we have two pages of pictures. The cricket teams from North Taranaki, .South Taranaki, and \t anganui, winch have played against English team during nieir tour, are given, and there are numerous other pictures of general colonial interest. hi the- Farmer are found special reports upon the crops in the chit-t grain-growing districts in the colony. The Bradford wool letter received by the mail last week will bo very encouraging to growers of croeebred wool, as the market is reported to be very firm, with an upward tendency. Among the editorial articles is one on the Victorian, butter trade, and the prospect of supplies from New Zealand. An account of the trial at Home of a motor for agricultural purposes is of considerable interest in these days. A letter on cauoages for cows will ajford useful information to dairymen. Tin* speeches at the annual dinner at York of the Gimcrack Club provide lacing people with food for thought, and the. "Referee" has an article referring to matters of interest spoken of at the latest meeting of the Gimci&cks. The Wellington Racing Club has been in the pact considerably hampered by the encroachme-nte of the bookmakers on the Hutt Park Racecourse. The trustees of the Park have now framed regulations which should meet the case. Tdie new rules are dealt with in the leading columns, wherein will ba found some comment on the English racing statistics. The tour of Lord Hawke'.s beam and the tennis championship are dealt with in entertaining manner. The columns devoted to athletics, aquatics, and other sporte contain the usual full and. complete no tea on recent doinge.
