SWIMMING.
At a meeting of the Rakaia Club, correspondence was read from several wellknown swimmers, notifying their intention of competing in the Provincial Championship next Thursday, as well as the several inter-club events. It was decided that all entries for interclub events and championship should close on Satur: day night, at the Clarendon Hotel. The Secretary reported that all details were complete. The Finance Committee's report was considered highly eatisfactory. A resolution was carried, and ordered to be forwardied to Mr Walter Johnson, interclub bandicapper, sympathising with him in his severe illness." Ervtrifs for all the club events had filled well, and tbe interest in the novelty events show a marked increase.
The I_tncaster Park Swimming Club hold their aquatic sporta this afternoon,for which complete arrangements have been made. The programme includes a water polo match, in which the Sydenham team, which recently defeated Otago, meets Lancaster Park. "Other-items are the 100 yds Schoolboys*' Championship, Life-saving Competition, fancy diving, and the interclub race, for which forty entries have been received, includina; representatives from Dunedin and every club in Canterbury.
