BERLIN, January 8.
While inspired German organs are reticent, others are jubilant at Russia's success in the Dardanelles. They represent Russia as guarding her flanks preparatory to a descent upon India. A SNEER AT ENGLAND'S PROTEST. (Received January 30th, 12.40 a.m.) LONDON, January 9. Out of four Russian torpedo-destroyers intended to pass through the DardaneLes, two did so, besides unarmed torpedo-boats. Tlie German newspaper "Vossiche Zeitung," says the Russian scythe is mowing down British opposition all over the globe. The British protests against the torpedo- ' boats passing through the Dardanelles were mere paper, and valueless unless backed up by force, probably the last thing Britain contemplates. The quarrel will soon subside, and Russia will prevail. Correspondent-} declare that these views reflect non-official opinion in Berlin.
