THE WESTPORT & CHARLESTON TRAM WAY COMPANY PROSPECTUS. Proposed Capital, <£20,000, in 4000 Shares of £5 each. [Under the Limited Liability Act.] PROVISIONAL COMMITTEE : Chairman: —Martin, Esq., Westport. T. Askew, Esq., IVestport Blain, Esq., „ Gibbons, Esq., Nelson J. Crate, Esq. ~ and Westport Smith, Esq., Westport Hammond, Esq, „ Hcnnellv, Esq, Charleston G. Blair, Esq., „ and Westport Roche, Esq, „ E. Broadbent, Esq, „ Thomas 11. Mann, Esq, „ A. Y. Skogland, Esq, „ With power to add to their number. Bankers: Solicitors: Adams and Kingdom, Nelson. Engineer: The Government Engineer. Secretary pro tem: John Crate. rjIRAMWAYS economising time and money, and the increased traffic between Charleston and Westport, combined with tha now established character of the auriferous districts through which the projected line passes, has induced the projectors to launch this scheme before the public under the most favorable auspices. To further the' interests of the Company, the Nelson Government, instead of giving a guarantee on the capital invested, are willing to give land along the intended line equivalent in value to a guarantee, but which, for the interests of the Company, will prove to be of far greater advan- ♦ tage. For example, 8 per cent, on the capital, L 20,000, for three years, is equal to L 4,800, the Company conceive that under the Nelson Railway Bill they will be entitled to an equivalent inland say 5000 acres, which sold, even at the rate of Ll per acre, will prove the advantage to be derived. The extraordinary success of the Ilokitika and Greymouth Tramway will be a sufficient guarantee to the general public, and more particularly to the inhabitants of the district through which the line passes,•that the present undertaking will prove a sure and profitable investment. It is proposed, in accepting tenders for the formation of the line, that the Charleston and Westport end should commence simultaneously, and lie contractors for the same take one third the unount of their tenders in shares of the coirMr Warden Kynnersley has kindly offered, on >ehalf of the Nelson Government, to survey the ine free of expense. The Provisional Committee will call a public neeting, of which du« notice will be given.
