Pig Values Down Slightly At Te Puke Sale
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports as follows on Te Puke stock sale held on Tuesday:—•
An extra large yarding of pigs came forward. Values for baconers remained firm on recent quotations but the exceptionally high prices realised for store pigs a fortnight ago were not maintained. A good clearance was effected, however, and although prices were lower vendors in most cases ,met the market. Except in the case of the smaller pigs values were only slightly below what they have been. There was a strong demand for sheep and a total clearance Was effected of the yarding which was comprised of 2-tooth wethers. The following is a range of prices: Pigs: Choppers, £5 7s 6d to £7 10s; prime heavy baconers, £6 19s to £7 Is; medium baconers, £6 10s to £6 16s; light baconers, £6 2s to £6 7s; large buttermilks, £5 15s to £6 4s; heavy porkers, £5 5s to £5 10s; medium store pigs, £4 to £5; small store pigs, £3 10s to £4; slips, £2 10s to £3; weaners, 30s to £2 ss. Cattle: Fat cows ex dairy, £ll to £l4; light fat cows, £8 to £10; medium boner cows, £7 to £9; light boner cows, £6 to £7; P.A. bullocks, forward condition, £24. Sheep: Two-tooth wethers, £2 17s 6d to £3 0s 3d; 2-tooth wethers, small, and late shorn £2 0s 6d to £2 7s 6d; fat Southdown 2-tooths. £2 19s.
