The Smith Stars were successfully defendd by the holders, M* Berg, E. Chamberlain, E. Johnston and L. Berg 24, against F. Cook, P. Breckon, H. Cantrell and W. Moore 17, in games* played at the Whakatane bowling green at the weekend. Results of the other games:— D. Bradley, R. Wilson, W. Howat, C. Coates 19 defeated B. Butler, J. Rutherford, T. Sims, R. Spong 9; C. Head, Y. Chamberlain, C. W. Good 37, R. Hansen, A. Atkinson, S. Shap* ley, P-. Smoljan 14; P. Bryers, W, Compton, Calaghan, A. Mclsaac 21 D. Allen, J. Bell, V. Cross, C. Pearson 15; L. Newman, W. Smith, F, Milne, A. Burgess 20, O. Moen, T, Danks, E. Grant, H. Riley 17. Several more games were played in the singles championships and the results were: C. Good 20 v W. Henderson 16; L. Berg 25 v C. Good 9. Semi-final: W. liederson 13 defeated L. Berg 10. The final will be played between Henderson and Good, each of whom has one life left.
