Co-operative Works; High Prices Paid

A report on the Primary Producers’ Co-operative Society Ltd. and its subsidiaries was delivered at the October meeting of the Bay of Plenty Sub-Provincial Executive, of Federated Farmers, by Mr A. C. Harrison, a delegate from the Tauranga branch and a director of the society. Mr Harrison intimated that 269,672 head of livestock had been handled for export and local trade during the year while final payments made by the .society on all export stock were higher than full schedule payments. Bulls fetched 9.5 d in the •£ over and above full schedule rates; oxen 10.6 d, cows 14d, heifers 12d, vealers 6.5 d, pigs 4.6 d, lambs 7.6 d. ewes 13,5 d and wethers 6.2 d.
