Annual Meeting Of Ohope Light Horse Club
The annual general meeting of the Ohope Light Horse Club was held in the Ohope hostel and the following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr P. H. Parr; president, Mr L. Nattrass; vice-presidents, Messrs Clough and Williams; secretary, Mr F. J. Norton; general committee members were also elected.
The chairman and retiring president, Mr Neville Smith, reviewed the activities of the club over the past season, and welcomed Mr Nattrass, his successor, to the chair. Mr Nattrass suitably replied and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Smith for his efforts during his term of office.
To avoid coinciding with the Whakatane Pony Club events, meetings will begin on October 29 and will be held fortnightly, alternately at Whakatane and Ohope. At Whakatane, meetings will be confined mainly to field events on Mr Jack Moore’s property, while the days at Ohope will usually take the form of picnic meetings and treks. In connection with the latter, Mr G. W. Dinnan was appointed part-time instructor and trek guide to the younger members'. Particulars concerning the opening day will be advertised through this paper and members are asked to roll up and make the season a bigger success than ever.
