High Prices At Cattle Fair

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports as follows on their Te Puke cattle fair held on Thursday:— More than the advertised number of cattle came forward. The cattle yarded were of very good quality and met with a keen demand under spirited competition from a large number of buyers who attended the sale from all parts of the Bay of Plenty and Waikato districts. The record price of £l6 was obtained for a line of yearling Polled Angus steers. The following is a range of prices realised: — Fat forward P.A. bullocks, £25 to £2B 10s; 3 and 4-year P.A. steers, £l9 10s to £24 10s; 3-year P.A. steers, £l7 8s to £lB 12s; 2-year Hereford and P.A. steers, £ls to £l7; yearling P.A. steers, £l2 to £l6; 2-year P.A. heifers, £lO 16s to £ls; yearling P.A. heifers, £8 to £lO.
