Children’s Ball Held At Poroporo School Saturday
A successful school fancy dress 'hall was held at Poroporo last Saturday evening. The costumes, many of which were devised by the children themselves made a colourful display and the judge, Mrs Ryde. had a difficult task selecting the prize winners. The children entertained a large crowd with folk dances and action songs until 10 o’clock when the floor was cleared for dancing. Prize winners were:— Best Costumes: Senior, T. Hirini, Father Xmas; Harriet Rodgers, In Grandmother’s Day. Junior, W. Kopae, Little Beaver, Matekins Kopae, Maori Maiden. Infants, D. Merito, Pirate; Waina Merito, Pink Floss. Most Original: Senior, P, Taylor, - Tramp; Bunny Mason, Cash and Carry; Junior, Shirley Bloor, Danger; ~Whina ....gamoutu, A Prince. Costumes were:— H.
