BAY OF PLENTY BEACON Published Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. MONDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1950 A RURAL EXCHANGE
The opening by the Postmas-ter-General on Saturday of a modern rural automatic telephone exchange at Murupara marks an important step in the progress of a district whose further advance will be watched with not only local but nationa] interest.
This big advance in MuruparaGalatea communications removes in one step much of the isolation from which the locality has suffered in the past. It brings the district close to centres and makes the growth of industry easier. It is pleasing that Murupara has been given the most up-to-date of exchange equipment. The rural automatic exchange has been developed for just such places.
