Murupara Ahead Of Whakatane In ’Phone Service
Murupara now had a much, more up-to-date telephone service than had Whakatane, said Mr G. A. Wilkes, representative of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce, at the opening of the new exchange on Saturday. The Whakatane service was what Rua might have used. The Chamber of Commerce foresaw great development at Murupara. Possibly, the Chamber’s headquarters might some day be there, with a branch at Whakatane. /
He would have pleasure, said Mr Wilkes, in being present for the opening of Murupara’s tram service.
