RAILWAYS NOT ABLE TO HANDLE ALL FERTILISER
It would not be until the end of the season that sufficient new trucks -would be available to take all the fertiliser offering, the Fertiliser Committee had been informed by the Railways Department, reported the president, Mr S. A. Weis, to the Bay of Plenty Provincial Executive of Federated Farmers in Whakatane yesterday. The department, he said, hoped to be able to handle all fertiliser transport next year. The committee had decided to approach the Department of Agriculture with the object of having the road transport subsidy on fertiliser restored for this season.
Railways would be able to handle all wool transport this year, Mr Wells said.
